·         New Development Bank (NDB) of BRICS countries has handed over $250 million to India’s Canara Bank for renewable energy projects as part of its first set of loans. Brazil, China, South Africa and Russia are founding members of NDB Bank.

·         India has chipped in to help Bangladesh’s ambitious plan to give electricity to all by 2021 in a big way with an equally ambitious plan to connect the two countries with diesel, LPG and LNG lines.

·         India Navy to give Permanent Commission to Women, Last year, the Indian Air Force began allowing women to fly combat planes.

·         PM Narendra Modi Named India’s own navigational system NAVIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation) after mariners and fishermen.

·         India completed its landmark mission for a navigational system on par with the US with the launch of IRNSS – 1G, the last in the constellation of satellites that make up the system

Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System (IRNSS) with 7 satellites will offer services with much better accuracy and targeted position in navigation on par with Global Positioning System of the US.

IRNSS will offer services like terrestrial, aerial and marine navigation, vehicle tracking and fleet management, disaster management

·         In tune with its “One Belt, One Road Initiative” China is positioning itself as a formidable energy exporter, targeting markets that span from Germany to India along the New Silk Road.

·         Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on April 5, 2016 flagged off the much awaited Gatimaan Express, the fastest train of India at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamudin railway station. Gatimaan Express covered the 187 Km distance between Hazrat Nizmuddin and Agra Cantt stations in just 100 minutes, bettering the fastest train record held by Shatabdi Express. Gatimaan is also India’s first train to have train hostesses.

·         The cabinet Committee has approved Pradhan mantri Ujjwal Yojana The flash points of the scheme are as follows :

Ø   Pradhan Mantri Ujjwal Yojana – a scheme to provide LPG to women of all households below poverty line is approved by CCEA

Ø   The scheme will benefit five crore families below poverty line

Ø    It ensures a financial support of Rs 1600 for each LPG conncection to the BPL households.

Ø    The Scheme would be implemented over three years namely, the FY 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19

·         Indian government approved India’s first Defence Industrial Park at Ottappalam in Palakkad district of Kerala.

·         India’s first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) became operational on April 11, 2015 at the Gujarat International Finance Tec – City (GIFT city) in Gandhinagar.

·         PM inaugurated India’s first solar powered court in Jharkhand’s Khunti district.

·         Pandri, a village in the Purulia district of West Bengal become India’s first Solar Powered Village.

·         Rajasthan became the first state of India to start Olive refinery.

·         The Ministry of Tourism (MOT) is processing the proposal of setting up a National Tourism University in Noida.

·         Bangalore City railway station has become the first one in the country to have Wi-Fi facility for providing high speed Internet to passengers.

·         Nagaland on June 13, 2014 got an innovative water solution technology project solar powered water treatment units (Solar water treatment plants) in three villages of the state capital.
·         First Kisan Call Centre (KCC) of North East was opened in Agartala, Tripura.

·           Virbhadra Singh, the chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on March 30, 2015 launched part one of e-Vidhan Mobile App.
The national highways authority of India laid the groundwork on March 19,2016 to roll out India’s first personal rapid transit (PRT) network and will invite global bids for the project within the next fortnight. The pilot project will span a 13km stretch from the Gurgaon – Delhi border to Badshapur Mod or Sohna Road.
